John Key has confirmed that the more controversial aspects of the proposed RMA reforms will be reviewed after they were opposed by United Future and the Maori Party last year.
The major changes being talked about are the merging of two Sections, 6 & 7 and whether greater use of National Policy Statements and National Environmental Standards could be used as an alternative. Also up for discussion was Special Housing Area legislation and whether this needed to be “embedded in the RMA”. There was also an as yet unpublicised issue relating to industrial land that needed resolving according to Mr Key.
