Fletcher Group – GBCWinstone

Return to Case Studies

Fletcher Group is now winning the war on resource consent paperwork, thanks to CS-VUE. GBCWinstone is using the online system to track and manage consent compliance.
More than 70 manufacturing sites between Kaitaia and Invercargill had generated hundreds of consents for the company. Each consent has strict conditions on waste water and air discharges.
Managing consent compliance with a cumbersome system of spreadsheets and hard copy files of original consent documents was proving “totally unwieldy.
“We want to thoroughly identify the obligations we have, assign them to people as tasks, and have a means of checking on them.
We want to minimise non-compliance to a level that is acceptable. We also want other people, especially regulatory authorities, to see that we have a robust system for managing consent compliance.”
Alan Happy, Resource & Environment Manager Winstone Aggregates
“We needed a central database so we could all have access. We have 15 offices in the major urban centres, and we also use external consultants. Everything had to be available to everyone. We needed some way we could get control of the paperwork, store everything electronically and view consents, their conditions, and even consent applications. It’s good to have the ‘bring-up’ reminders from CS-VUE. I can’t possibly know what is in the conditions for every consent at every site, and neither can the site managers.”
“I think it is a very well thought-out system. It has certainly got potential to reduce my paperwork and ensure we don’t miss any vital deadlines for reporting. If councils have this kind of system at their disposal, those responsible for site management need at least an equal system.”
